Cleaning, Sanitizing & Disinfecting

Often the terms cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting are understood and applied as same in our lives yet they are different.

Cleaning is the basis of hygienic and healthier living in the world full of impurities. It requires the removal of dirt, dust or debris from the surfaces. It can be made in conjunction with soap or detergents and wiped with cloth. Such type of cleaning refers to remove the visible smudges, stains, or spots to give a feeling of looking good. Various cleaning products are used to make the surfaces look bright and shiny. It fails to kill the germs like bacteria, viruses or fungi. It is nothing more than washing away anything which looks dirty to the eye. Thus, cleaning is the most common and easier way to remove the germs before following any intensive method.

Sanitizing is the basis of keeping away the breeding of germs on any surfaces over the period of time by making sure that the germs are abated from multiplying at any place whether it is office or home. It is a step beyond the cleaning as it kills a greater amount of bacteria from any surface. Chemicals are used in this process to provide hygienic conditions for dwelling and remaining healthy.

Disinfection involves the absolute elimination of pathogens and disease-causing microorganisms. It is killing of the germs that lower downs the spread of infection by using a particular type of chemical that differentiates it from sanitizing. The correct methodology of using the chemicals is the requisite.
